We understand that technical jargon can be difficult to understand, especially when it comes to getting specific measurements for a staircase, the last thing you want is the pressure of getting it wrong! For that reason, leave the measuring to the experts. Our team of experts will arrange a suitable date and time to visit the property and obtain appropriate dimensions, we will take full responsibility for the entire process ensuring your stairs will fit the first time leaving you stress-free.
We have been manufacturing staircases for over 30 years and in this time, we’ve confidently worked with various materials. With this, we can understand which materials are the best option for staircase construction including the hardiness and longevity. Generally speaking, we have a wide range of materials that we use for staircase construction, these include: Softwood, American White oak, Walnut & MDF. If you have a different kind of material in mind, talk through it with our experts to find something that suits your home and requirements.
Like anything, you can spend as much or as little as you want on manufacturing a new staircase. The estimated cost of manufacturing a new staircase with Central Joinery Group is entirely dependent on several factors such as the specification and materials chosen to build your dream staircase. Generally speaking, the cost of manufacturing a new staircase can range from £400 - £50,000.
Yes, it is essential that building codes and regulations are followed during the construction process of a staircase. In particular, at Central Joinery Group we manufacture staircases to the building regulations code K for residential regulations and code M for commercial regulations. In doing this, we are confident that the staircases we manufacture are both safe and compliant based on the most up-to-date building codes and regulations.
Once your staircase has been manufactured, our specialist installation team will ensure your bespoke joinery is installed to meet your initial CAD drawing design ideas and exceed your expectations.
Please note that installation is only applicable if you've opted for fitting by our installation team.
In addition to manufacturing staircases that adhere to the most up-to-date building codes and regulations, we also use our on-site visit as an opportunity to survey the area and ensure that all essential regulations are adhered to, ensuring the build is safe and meets all necessary building standards.
Unfortunately, we do not manufacture under stair storage. However, there is nothing to stop you from incorporating this into your staircase design using a reputable joiner in the future.
If you are in need of a new staircase but unsure exactly what you want, our experts who design staircases every day can help you create a visually appealing and unique staircase that suits your home perfectly. Since all of our staircases are made bespoke to customer requirements, when we attend on-site visits we will give you the opportunity to discuss your design options and materials before we provide you with a quote.
One of the most common (and most costly) mistakes that can occur when having a new staircase built is any errors in measuring the stair opening. To avoid this mistake from happening, it’s recommended that you work with a reputable company that will ensure the staircase is going to fit. For example, our dedicated surveyors will visit the site to survey every single staircase ourselves, this takes away any of the measuring responsibility from you.
For comfort and safe staircase usage, it is essential that you follow the recommended advice for stair riser and tread ratio. With this, the average stair riser is 200mm - 223mm to give the most comfortable step and the highest recommended 42-degree pitch.
It can be difficult to calculate the number of steps required for a desired staircase height, but the following calculations make it easy to calculate and understand. To calculate this, you need to obtain the storey height and divide it by 200, then round up the answer and this will give the number of necessary staircase treads.
At Central Joinery Group, we pride ourselves on having a great selection of handrails and balustrades so that our customers can design their dream staircases. We have a large range of handrails and spindles on offer, these can be viewed on our e-commerce store and are also displayed in our brochure. During your on-site survey, you will have the opportunity to discuss your design options with the surveyor before receiving a quote.
If you are building a staircase in a small space, there are a couple of very important factors that need to be considered to ensure you have a safe and compliant staircase. These factors include considering if there is enough headroom and that a 42-degree pitch is achievable. If these factors are not obtainable, you may need to rethink your staircase design.
Generally speaking, the expected lifespan of a staircase is 20+ years. At Central Joinery Group we take extra measures to ensure staircase durability, we do this by using glue and wedging from behind, all of these protocols follow the BWF guide for manufacturing high-quality staircases. With additional aftercare of your staircase, you can promote the longevity of your staircase increasing its lifespan even further.
Yes, at Central Joinery Group we offer sustainable material options for staircases. We have a wide range of sustainable materials that can be used to manufacture your staircase.
Whilst noise or creaking can be relatively common in staircases, particularly those that are older, there are ways of minimising the possibility of noise or creaking. This involves using the correct materials and manufacturing the staircase to a high standard. At Central Joinery Group we ensure all our treads and risers are screwed and glued to help prevent any creaking in the future.
If you’ve got the vision of incorporating lighting features into your stunning new staircase, we can help make this happen! During your on-site visit with a surveyor, you get the opportunity to discuss your design ideas and materials before receiving a quote, just let us know about your desire to incorporate lighting features in or around the staircases during this meeting.
